SUMMER PROGRAMS

We explore through creativity and scientific investigation this place we call home, the Wrangell Mountains. WMC educational programs and community workshops deepen our appreciation of the Wrangells, inspire, and connect us to the natural world and each other.

We connect people with wildlands.
Come explore with us!

Our list of programs is diverse, from the arts and sciences to preserving and deepening the culture and history of the Kennecott-McCarthy community. We host a for-credit, undergraduate field studies program and artist residencies as well as programs for youth that connect kids to the natural environment, to name a few.

We look forward to hosting summer programs in 2024!

Alaska is one gigantic field seminar and the Wrangell Mountains Center has 13 million acres for its classroom. As much as I’ve tried to be attentive to my landscape, to its flora and fauna, I realize how much I don’t know. Thanks to programs at the WMC, artists, writers, and citizen-naturalists continue to be awed and inspired

There is no better classroom than the outdoors where you get hands on experience with glaciers, geology, climate change, and environmental conservation.
