The Saghani ggaay Summer Camp invites our community to share in the creation and celebration of the Saghani gaay Potlatch gathering. A Potlatch is an Indigenous ceremonial feast traditionally organized as a celebration of life. A truly historic endeavor, McCarthy’s first modern-day Potlatch welcomes Tribal Villages from the greater area along with the MXY/Kenn community an opportunity to celebrate themes of reciprocity. As per tradition, you’re invited to bring food and small gifts to share in the bounty, meet the Saghani ggaay team, and to learn from Ahtna culture. If you would like to help by donating fish, please reach out to Sabrina at sabrina@wrangells.org.
Held in the Old Hardware Store on the WMC Campus on July 18 from 3 to 6pm.
